The Bible Project is a non-profit animation studio that produces short-form, fully animated videos to make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere. We create videos, podcasts, and study guides that explore the Bible’s unified story.
The Bible is a divine-human book that speaks God’s word to his people. We believe it ultimately points us to Jesus, who has the power to change individuals and whole communities when we let the biblical story speak for itself.
We focus on the Bible's overarching themes and each book’s literary design and are committed to understanding the Bible in its historical context.
Reaching the Next Generation
All of our videos are viewable on our YouTube channel where we have accrued over 30 million views across 229 countries, and have over half a million subscribers.
Viewership is evenly distributed between ages 18 to 45. We are inspiring the next generation to explore the Bible through the mediums in which they have been raised, visual storytelling and technology.
We are not part of any specific Christian denomination or tradition. We hope that people from all backgrounds will find value in this work, regardless of their religious or non-religious convictions.
We simply desire to help others understand the scriptures and all their complex themes in a way that is engaging, approachable, and transformative.
Changing how people read and use the Bible
For so many, the Bible is used as a devotional grab bag. For others, it is an instructional manual that fell out of the sky. And sadly, for many more, it is an oppressive book of out-dated rules used to control people.
Timothy Mackie and Jonathan Collins (long-time friends and one-time roommates at Multnomah Bible College) were tossing around ideas on how to help people read through Scripture while avoiding these common pitfalls and misunderstandings. How could complex themes of the Bible be presented in a way that was real and unapologetic, but approachable?
Combining Tim’s deep biblical understanding and Jon’s passion for visual story-telling, they created their first two videos in 2014 and put them online for free.
We are now a registered 501(c)3 and a full-time labor of love made up of artists, illustrators, designers, supporters, and prayer warriors. This is a collaborative, community-oriented endeavor. We have relied on crowdfunding from the beginning. We are honored by those who support us to make each video happen.
